Applied puppetry is opening doors to puppeteers who have talent, skills and the desire to find new venues for working with puppets other than pure entertainment. ( Although all puppetry is entertaining!!!!!)

Yolanda Sampson, President of GO Y.O. Worldwide, LLC, is an ordained minister who brings the Gospel to life through the art of puppetry. GO Y.O. Worldwide, LLC creates products, performs live puppet shows and conducts puppet making workshops to educate and empower children to victoriously live out their Christian faith. A featured puppeteer in the Living Objects: African American Puppetry Exhibition at the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry in Storrs, Connecticut, Yolanda uses puppetry to reach children in impoverished communities such as the Migrant Children at the Texas/Mexico Border in McAllen, Texas; the Standing Rock Indian Reservation in Cannon Ball, North Dakota; the SOS Orphanage in Colon, Panama; and the National Center for Children and Families in Bethesda, Maryland.  With creativity and flare, her impactful and entertaining puppet show productions opened doors for performances in churches, schools, libraries, museums and on television nationally and internationally. Yolanda also has the pleasure of serving as the President of the National Capital Puppetry Guild. Yolanda, a former Ms. Black World, received a Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California, and a Bachelor of Arts from Howard University’s School of Communication.

Yolanda Sampson’s Current Work in Applied Puppetry

Currently, Yolanda Sampson is creating Bible-based puppet video lessons that inspire children to be the best they can be, so they can make a positive impact in the world. In order to help children grapple with the escalating violence in the schools, bullying, racial tensions and broken relationships, GO Y.O. Worldwide, LLC will sponsor the “GO Y.O. Forgive Marathon” (Monday, November 29, 2021 – Saturday, December 4, 2021) where children will learn daily through short puppet videos posted on the GO Y.O. Worldwide YouTube Channel and printed materials on the GO Y.O. Worldwide website (www.go-yo.org) how to live and practice the biblical principles of forgiveness. Afterwards, children will be encouraged to create their own puppets and skits communicating the message of forgiveness, which is ubiquitous and timeless. As the business and ministry of GO Y.O. Worldwide, LLC continues to evolve, Yolanda will also continue to work with migrant children in McAllen, Texas and conduct Bible based puppet making workshops, which share the love of Jesus Christ and offer solutions to our community’s problems.
