Peter Court

Peter Court Graduated from the University of Plymouth (U.K) as a mature student with a BA Honours in Theatre Arts & Performance / Design Arts. Since immigrating to South Africa, he has worked extensively in the theatre as an Actor / Ex-Dancer / Director / Set & Costume Designer / Choreographer / Puppeteer / Puppet Maker / Mask Maker & Mime.

Peter arrived in South Africa in October 1995 for a three-week holiday. He never went back. Since then he has written, directed or performed in too many productions too remember. He’s been involved in everything from Shakespeare to puppetry, from pantomime to farce and diversity has always been the name of his game.

He has been nominated & won several FNB Vita & Durban Mercury Theatre Awards including: Best Set & Lighting designer – “Glass Menagerie”,

Best Supporting Actor – “Memory of Water” and

Best Costume Design – “Red Coat Tales”.

He was awarded two FNB Vita Best Director awards for his productions of “King Kong” & “Memory of Water” along with a “KZN Fool Award” for his continued contribution to local theatre.

Peter was granted a Fleur de Cap Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical – “CABART” in 2013

He teaches Theatre Arts & Performance in Durban & has his own Theatre Company “Creative Madness”

Creative Madness is an award-winning company with international experience in Theatre and Education and specialises in creating tailor made productions, whether for the Corporate, Education or Commercial market. These productions all combine physical theatre, dance, puppets and song creating an enjoyable learning and theatrical experience.

Peter has created productions for uShaka Marine World, Unilever, the ICC and various other Corporate Companies.

He is currently the National Creative Arts implementation partner for the Mr Price Foundation.
