Dinaïg Stall is a puppeteer and puppetry arts teacher at UQAM (Université du Québec à Montréal), where she’s in charge of the specialized degree in puppetry (DESS en théâtre de marionnettes contemporain).

She graduated in 2002 from ESNAM (École supérieure nationale des arts de la marionnette) in Charleville-Mézières, France, and has been the artistic director of her own company, Le Bruit du frigo, for 11 years. There, she developed her understanding of puppetry as a langage, from conception and construction to dramaturgy and interpretation. She worked with other artists, especially Céline Garnavault – Cie La Boîte à sel, with whom she’s created many shows in a precious collaborative relation that is still ongoing despite distance.

Since her arrival in Quebec in 2014, she’s worked with several artists – Sariane Cormier for her short film La Volupté, Marie-Ève Huot for the show Des Pieds et des mains –, directed the show Partout ailleurs and collaborated to different research-creation projects with musicologist Catrina Flint and Concordia University puppetry arts teacher Mark Sussman.

Dinaïg enrolled once again as a student, in a research-creation PhD program in 2019, where she currently explores the specific potential of puppetry arts to create queer feminist works.

She’s also a part of PRint, a research-creation lab dedicated to inter-artistic practices on stage, and of IREF and RéQEF, respectively the Institute for feminist research within UQAM and the provincial network linking francophone feminist researchers in the whole province of Quebec.
